Advantages And Disadvantages Of A Cookie Diet

Just like other diets, a cookie diet has its advantages and disadvantages. However, with due care, the disadvantages can be overcome.

Advantages:

With global warming that result in unpredictable weather patterns, farmers, especially in developing countries who rely on small scale farming without irrigation find it hard to know when to plant. In most cases, the crops cultivated are wiped out due to lack of rain. This leads to famine and hunger. Cookie diets come in handy in sustaining their lives until the situation improves.

Certain patients are restricted to particular diets. This is especially so for those suffering from obesity. A diet provides a fast and rapid weight loss. This should however be undertaken after consulting with a physician just to ensure that the cookie diet is appropriate and will work well to achieve the desired result. For weight loss, a cookie diet is eaten any time a patient feels hungry in the course of the day and having a complete meal at dinner.

As countries and communities engage in wars, many people get displaced and end up in refugee camps. Feeding such big number of people become a problem. A proper formulated cookie diet becomes a perfect solution as food. Cookies are used by non-governmental organizations in helping those in need of food as a first line of action before sustainable food sources are established.

Compared to other diets, cookie diets are cheap and many can afford to buy them. They are hunger-suppressing foods that can be used in difficult situations where natural foods are not readily available.

Disadvantages

Depending on a cookie diet denies the body enough vital minerals, vitamins and nutrients. The complete meal that one on weight-reducing cookie diet has in a day may not be enough to provide the body with enough of such vitamins, minerals and nutrients. This affects the proper functioning of body cells that can lead to other health problems.

The body requires enough fibre that is beneficial to it. Fibre helps in achieving smooth bowel movement and in cleaning the colon. The colon has an important duty of discharging waste from the body and lack of fibre definitely affects it. Unclean colon results in frequent illnesses and diseases. Fibre also helps detoxify the body by helping in the removal of toxic substances. A cookie diet does not provide the body with fibre, and this affects the body negatively.

Before one embarks on a cookie diet, he/she should consider carefully his/her health condition. Sticking solely on a cookie diet can aggravate certain diseases and illnesses. Having healthy fruit juices in the course of the day can complement a cookie diet. This can actually provide the body with vitamins and minerals that cannot be obtained from the cookies.
